The National Privacy Principles (NPP) describe a framework for ensuring the privacy of personal details held by organizations. SolarShare is pleased to align its privacy policy with the NPP.

SolarShare Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes our practices on the collection, use, and disclosure of your information in connection with SolarShare. When you use the Site, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information we collect

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us and, unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future for our e-newsletters to tell you about new initiatives or changes to this privacy policy.

Your Access To and Control Over Information

You may opt out of any future contact from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number given on our website, or using the email link provided to you upon registration:
  • See what data we have about you, if any.
  • Change/correct any data we have about you.
  • Have us delete any data we have about you.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

Information kept in Australia

Registration information is kept with our internet hosting provider who is located in Australia.

Incomplete information

If your registration information is incomplete we may not be able to ensure you are one of the first invited to invest in the community solar farm.

Additional information we collect

In addition to the information you submit to or through the Site, we also collect and store information from and about you in the course of your use of the Site. We use this information to analyse and track user behaviour, personalize your experience, provide functionality and improve the quality of the Site. For example:
  1. Location: We may collect and store information about your location if you enable your computer or mobile device to send us location information. You may be able to change the settings on your computer or mobile device to prevent it from providing us with such information.
  2. Activity: We may collect and store information related to you and your use of the Site, such as your browser type, IP address, requested URL, referring URL, browser language, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit.
  3. Cookies: We may use cookies, web beacons, local shared objects (sometimes called “flash cookies”), and similar technology in connection with your use of the Site (“Cookies”). Third parties

We do not rent, share, sell or trade personally identifiable information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. That said, we work with third parties and they may have access to some of your information:

Investigations: We may investigate and disclose information from or about you if we have a good faith belief that such investigation or disclosure is (a) reasonably necessary to comply with legal process and law enforcement instructions and orders, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on us; (b) helpful to prevent, investigate, or identify possible wrongdoing in connection with the Site; or (c) protect our rights, reputation, property, or that of our users affiliates, or the public.
  4. Links: The Site may contain links to unaffiliated third party websites. Except as set forth herein, we do not share your personal information with them, and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We suggest you read the privacy policies on all such third party websites.

Identifiers

The NPP states that an organisation must not adopt as its own, an identifier of the individual that has been assigned by the government. E.g., Medicare numbers or tax file numbers. SolarShare does not use any government identifiers as identifiers for members, visitors or other parties.

Security

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet or via mobile device, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

SolarShare does not collect any sensitive information.

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time.
