Some great news for solar investors in the ACT region:
The Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Simon Corbell, has launched a feed-in tariff specifically for community solar projects. Mr Corbell made the announcement to a turnout of over 300 people at the Community Energy Congress that was held recently in Canberra.
“This will be a great opportunity for community members who want to invest in large-scale solar to get involved in an on-ground project,” Mr Corbell said. “Successful proposals will have access to a feed-in-tariff, giving community groups a secure income stream and allowing them to partner with experienced solar developers to access project finance and expertise.”
The feed-in tariff is up to 20c per kilowatt-hour, guaranteed for 20 years and capped at 1 megawatt.
This is a development that SolarShare is very excited about, and gives us much more flexibility in choosing projects that will enable a sustainable financial return for our investors, should we be successful in our bid for a share.
