Next week is the November Green-ups

3rd November, 5pm, 107 Projects, Redfern. (107 Redfern St, Redfern NSW 2016)

SolarShare is part of the November ‘Green ups’: An event covering community energy projects across ACT and NSW. You can learn how community-led projects allow local groups to take control of their own energy future, reduce their carbon footprint, and reinvest their energy bill savings back into the community for its social needs.

“With 87 per cent of Australians supporting renewable energy from rooftop solar, and a solar system sold every three minutes, it comes as no surprise that community groups across the country are increasingly taking matters into their own hands and pursuing local, community-owned energy projects.”

There will be a range of local community energy organisations that will be sharing ideas and projects, all to inspire and inform and allow you to get on board and get involved.

Last week was Renewables for all

On Wednesday the 28th we hosted a workshop with the Community Power Agency to look for ways that everyone can be involved in opportunities for new energy technologies, especially for people who don’t have the means to invest, or their own home to make improvements to.

We’d like to thank the advocates from ACT Council of social services, Council of the ageing, Canberra Business Chamber, Communities@Work, the Conservation council, SEE-Change, ACT Government and the other advocates for equity and affordability of energy who were able to join us on the day.

If you are interested in knowing more about this, you can read the discussion paper here and write to us on any of the matters it covers.
