Knowing more about you helps us make sure we are including as wide a range as possible of people in SolarShare, as part of our mission is to make sure we increase the accessibility of renewable energy to the Canberra community. If we have a good cross section of demographics who a members of SolarShare we know we are doing this well. It also helps us keep in touch with with what is most important to you as members and supporters.

The latest on our flagship project

This last month we’ve had the heritage consultants out to the Majura site, along with representatives from Aboriginal organisations. We’d like to extend a warm thank you to the aboriginal representatives that attended. As always, we  believe it is important that we acknowledge that the land on which we are building the solar farm is part of the home of Aboriginal peoples both past and present. SolarShare is keen to ensure that we don’t impact on important Aboriginal heritage or artefacts that may be present at our Majura site.

This Winter seems to be the season for consultants, as we’ve also just recently completed the independent technical review stage of the ACT Government community solar scheme and are pleased with the resulting report.  This has accelerated our plans to bring on IT Power, our ‘owner’s engineer’ who will be assisting us with some of the contracts for getting the solar farm built.

In terms of timeframes, we are still expect to be conducting our main capital-raising this year.

Finally, I’m very pleased to welcome a new director to the board of SolarShare, Dan Carton. Dan has a wealth of experience in funds management and capital raising, and we are looking forward to working with him on our T2 capital raising offer for later this year. When he isn’t moonlighting with us, among other things he works as the chief economist at a government business agency.

Wishing you sunny regards,

From Lawrence and the SolarShare Team.

Ps. Please do take 5 minutes to head to our survey, it really does help and is one of the best ways you can show your support.
