Investors tour the Solar Farm
We have recently held two tours of the Mount Majura Community Solar Farm, giving investors the chance to see the solar farm in action. We hosted a group of about 30 investors at the end of January. Initially, this event was intended to include the planting of 18 trees on Majura Road with volunteers and the Majura Valley Landcare Group. However, we had to act quickly just before Christmas to plant the trees during a run of dry days. Thanks to local landholders for using their equipment to get the job done. So, with the trees already in the ground, our investors were able to see the native plants planted around the perimeter of the solar farm and help to complete a condition report on the existing plants. We also heard from the Molonglo Conservation Group about the area’s water catchment and landcare activities, and about the migratory bird, the Latham’s Snipe, which has been spotted in the Majura Valley. In addition, we had a briefing from Sherry McArdle-English from the Majura Valley Landcare Group about Majura Valley issues affecting landholders. Of course, there was also an opportunity to see the solar farm in action and participate in a Q&A session with SolarShare Chairman Nick Fejer. In collaboration with the Majura Valley Land Care Group and Molonglo Conservation Group, SolarShare has committed to funding the planting of more trees along Majura Road. This initiative is aimed at supporting ongoing regeneration and land care activities and furthering the development of a tourist trail in the Majura Valley. Following the AGM, we also hosted a small group of investors at the solar farm on Saturday 25 February.
